Fast, tasty and healthy in 20 minutes

Anyone who thinks that rush hour ends the moment you get out of the car may be disappointed. Once you get home, you have to chop, cook, eat and tidy up, after which everyone runs out again to do their hobby or to a meeting. Fortunately, we have some tips so that you can conjure up a meal in no time.

General tips

-         Make a list of successful fast meals.

-         Stock up on frozen vegetables and easy wok ingredients in the freezer.

-         Vacuum pack portions of cooked food for one of the next days.

-         Use ingredients or methods which don’t require much chopping (oyster mushrooms, stir-fry prawns, mussels, salmon strips, frozen vegetables, spring onions, cherry tomatoes, beansprouts, broccoli florets).

Stir-fry

The great thing about stir-frying is that you can fry all the ingredients in a very short space of time. By choosing easy ingredients, you can make a meal in no time. Stir-fry prawns can go into the wok without chopping, oyster mushrooms are quickly torn and spring onions and mange-touts require very little preparation.

Many types of noodles only need to be cooked briefly and pan-ready udon noodles are even available for adding to the wok at the last minute. 

Pasta and couscous

Fresh pasta only needs a few minutes in boiling water. With fried diced courgettes, salmon strips, capers and frozen herbs, your meal is soon ready. Preparing couscous is no work at all. Cover with boiling water and allow to swell. The couscous is then ready in a few minutes.

Soup

A fresh vegetable soup is really health and easy to make. Coarsely chop an onion and the vegetables and add to a pan of bouillon. After bringing to the boil and cooking, the soup is quickly blended and finished with a little cream or cheese. Delicious with crusty bread and butter or herb cheese.

Salad

A salad can easily be turned into a meal when it is packed with lots of (grilled) vegetables or fruit and the addition of a significant, nutritious ingredient. Top with a slice of (grilled) goat’s cheese or some beef cooked on the teppan yaki (and then sliced), a grilled tuna steak or a poached egg. Make an easy dressing for the salad, for example by mixing yoghurt with tomato tapenade, green pesto or yoghurt-mayonnaise with wasabi and ginger syrup.
